Weber State University Head Football Coach Ron McBride said he's feeling fine after being released from Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho late Sunday Morning.
After being released, McBride has gotten right back to work, attending the Wildcat Club luncheon Monday, and getting back in his office to review film Tuesday.
McBride left Saturday's game against Idaho State University after experiencing an unusually high heart rate and feeling lightheaded. WSU won the game 59-27, clinching at least a share of the Big Sky Conference title.
"He was chewing someone out pretty bad, and he got out of breath on the thing and kind of went down," said WSU Defensive Coordinator Kevin Clune.
Doctors weren't taking any precautions with the 69-year-old coach, who has already suffered two heart attacks. Tests came back negative, and, after being held overnight for observation, McBride was released.
Immediately following Saturday's game, WSU football players paid a visit to McBride in the hospital, congratulating him with the team's Big Sky Conference Championship trophy.
"That was great, because I was so happy for them," said McBride, who signed a new four-year contract last week. "I was sad that I wasn't there for them at the end, and I think, when I left, it cost us eight or nine points."
WSU running back Trevyn Smith said he thinks McBride's departure late in the game was a distraction as well.
"Mac has a big impact on all of us," Smith said. "He's like a dad to me. It definitely affected me, and had an impact on the whole team for sure."
McBride visited with his heart doctor on Monday morning, before getting back to work on Tuesday.
"He checked me out, and changed some of my medication to see if it was causing any problems," McBride said. "So we'll see how I react to it."
Other than meeting with doctors, McBride met with more pleasant news on Monday when the FCS polls were released. In the polls, the Wildcats moved up one slot to No. 8 in the nation. WSU's movement in the rankings will be out of their hands in the coming week, having their bye week before facing Eastern Washington University on Nov. 22.
McBride said the bye week is a little different, but it is still business as usual.
"We're already watching film from the Idaho State game," McBride said, "and Thursday will be our academic study day. Then, the guys will start practice again on Friday and Saturday."
A win against Eastern Washington would give the Wildcats an undefeated 8-0 record in conference play for the first time in school history along with sole possession of the conference title.
The brackets for the FCS playoff tournament will be announced Nov. 23, with WSU hoping to grab one of the top four seeds and a home playoff game.
