Cengiz: Students need required information literacy

The Daily Utah Chronicle, University of Utah, UT

0 minutes ago by Andrew Cengiz

The U is one of the leading colleges in the nation when it comes to research in several areas. Sadly, this may only apply to faculty. U students are losing their ability to perform critical research. Wikipedia is an online "encyclopedia" in which the general public is allowed to make changes to the content at their own discretion.

Fireworks under fire

Signpost, Weber State University, UT

The fuse ignites. The teen holding the firecracker flower has seconds before it bursts in a spectacular display of green, pink, and orange. He winds up, when suddenly he sees a small shadow in the fourth of July Twilight. Could it be a child on the other side of the street? He hesitates - one second too long.

Beard Rules for Beardy Mcweirdy

College Times, Utah Valley State College, UT

1 day ago by Parker Donat

It's hard having a beard. It's itchy, it's hot, people stare at it, and you can't blow huge bubble gum bubbles. I think the toughest, but manliest, part of having a beard is to get enough courage to grow pubic-like hair all over your face. To those men who try and succeed, I say, "Good one on you, mate" and for those who are follicle-challenged, I say, "Dude, sorry. If God didn't put it there, don't even try it."

After thirty-two years, the citizens of Washington D.C. are finally enjoying their Second Amendment rights again. Even our nation's capital is subject to the constitution. Now, not just criminals and felons will be able to have a handgun, but law-abiding citizens will be allowed to have handguns in their homes.

The Daily Utah Chronicle, University of Utah, UT

2 days ago by Gina Lea Nickl

In October 1969, several thousand students gathered on the U's campus and marched to the Federal Building downtown to protest the war. A few months later, our campus erupted with riots. Classes were sidetracked, the ROTC building on campus was firebombed, and four thousand students started a rally just south of the Union building.

Bean: New Wal-Mart building in Sugar House couldn't hurt

The Daily Utah Chronicle, University of Utah, UT

2 days ago by Alex Bean

Wal-Mart supercenters regularly get a bad reputation. From gutting local mom and pop shops, to increasing traffic and late night noise, it doesn't seem like there's a lot to like about the big box retailer. Salt Lake residents share these concerns over the new Wal-Mart coming to the Sugar House area.

Tim Russert passes

Signpost, Weber State University, UT

4 days ago by Josh McCatterty

Tim Russert is dead. An apparent sudden heart attack claimed the Jesuit-trained newsman's life on Friday the thirteenth - truly an unlucky day for this country. He expired while working, an irony seemingly lost in the sea of event-peddlers, perhaps in the spirit of good taste.
